My process....listen, learn, design, listen, revise, deliver.
LISTEN…..
I pride myself on being a very good listener.
My goal is to help you to realize your ideas and to collaborate with you to create a home that reflects you and your family. Each and every project is a partnership between architect and client.
Using the concepts defined by Sarah Susanka's "The Not So Big House", I believe that great homes are created with quality spaces not quantity of rooms.
LEARN…..
Before I even begin sketching ideas, we will speak at length about your goals and desires for the project. Not only about the size and function of the spaces, but also about how you want the spaces to feel and how the spaces will be organized in your home. For example, I want to know if you are hoping to have morning sun in your kitchen, sunset views in your family room, or if you want to take advantage of a great view from your dining room.
DESIGN.....
The first drawing you will see for your project is the site analysis. This will ensure that we take advantage of views and sunlight or, if necessary, block an undesirable view. One of the wisest things I have ever learned is that a thorough analysis of the site will virtually design the home.
LISTEN…..
It is very important to me that the project reflect your wants and desires, not mine. The investment of time at the beginning of the project, along with a high level of communication between us throughout the process, will ensure that your needs are not only met, but exceeded.
REVISE.....
Several designs may be needed before we reach a final layout. It is essential to work through every detail of the design before construction begins. This will assure a timely and more cost effective result.
DELIVER…..
My services don't end when the construction drawings are completed. I also assist clients in selecting a contractor and overseeing construction, as needed.
I will help you through the process every step of the way.
